The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Owner, Shannon Pawley, Shares A Couple Of Horror Stories As A Result Of Procrastination And Poorly Drafted Or No Estate Planning Documents.

Estate & Asset Protection Attorney and Owner, Shannon Pawley, hopes to motivate readers into action when sharing the horrors that happen to loved ones when estate planning documents are either not drawn up properly, are not updated or are not created at all.

DECATUR, GA, October 11, 2021: Shannon Pawley, Owner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new article on the law firm’s website entitled “Poorly Drafted Estate Planning Documents Have Scary Unintended Results.” Ms. Pawley shares a couple of stories of famous people that could and should make the hair stand up on the back of the neck and propel readers into action.

“With Halloween right around the corner,” Pawley writes, “and knowing how much many of us love the holiday with its spookiness, I thought it might be a good time to scare some of you out of procrastination and into action.” She continues, “I’m sharing some horror stories that happen all too frequently and can continue to haunt your family and loved ones for the remainder of their lives if you fail to have your estate planning documents drafted correctly and updated regularly prior to your death or mental incapacitation.”

According to Pawley, “Few things in life are more frightening and destructive to families than the events that too often occur when legal estate documents are not drafted correctly. Or if they are never drawn up at all.”

Pawley states, “Hollywood is a great source for some of these real-life horror stories. In many cases you have great wealth, multiple marriages, children from multiple marriages and most often estates valued in the tens of millions of dollars. Believe me when I tell you,” she adds, “TV stars and movie moguls make the same kind of mistakes that ordinary folks make with the exact same kind of consequences.”

Pawley shares one story about the estate of TV talk host Larry King and one about filmmaker John Singleton. She adds, “Procrastination simply never pays when you want to make sure your assets are distributed the way you want them to be upon your passing. Fact is, you never know when things might happen.” She adds, “None of us is promised a tomorrow, so today is the day to make sure your affairs are in order.”

About Shannon M. Pawley, J.D., LL.M

As the owner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, Shannon M. Pawley and her entire team share a passion which focuses on being able to serve the legal needs of retiring individuals. In our firm, WE BELIEVE that people should not have to lose everything they’ve worked a lifetime to earn and that every person is an individual who deserves respect and the highest quality of life possible, regardless of age or ability. We also believe that privacy and protection are the keys to personal peace. Born and raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia to a tightknit family with strong military service roots, Shannon learned from an early age the value of hard work and the importance of social awareness to ensure you always leave a situation in a better place than how you entered it. In her junior year of high school, Shannon served as U.S. House of Representatives Page during the 101st United States Congressional Session in Washington, D.C. This experience exposed her to numerous new cultures and worldly issues. Walking away from her experience as a U.S. House of Representative Page, Shannon knew that she wanted to pursue legal studies and be able to assist others in obtaining the best results available in difficult situations.

Shannon earned her undergraduate degree at North Carolina Wesleyan College and pursued a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law. After obtaining her law degree and becoming a licensed attorney in Michigan, she continued her educational pursuit by acquiring a LL.M. (Master of Law) in Taxation from Wayne State University. After moving to Georgia in 2018, Shannon obtained her Georgia law license and has enjoyed being able to pursue her desire of ensuring persons are able to age with dignity, grace and independence.
