The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Owner, Shannon Pawley, Addresses The Important Topic Of “Solo Seniors” Being Their Own Advocates For Aging Needs.

Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Owner, Shannon Pawley, encourages solo seniors to take action while healthy and clear minded to clarify their wishes and establish legal documents and the services of a professional fiduciary to carry out their designated desires.

DECATUR, GA, March 18, 2022: Shannon Pawley, Owner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new blog on the law firm’s website entitled “Out Of The Baby Boomer Generation An Influx Of Solo Seniors.” Ms. Pawley defines “solo seniors” as “those who have no living family or friends that can serve as legal agent for them.”

Pawley writes, “According to the U.S. Census Bureau, back in 2010, the oldest baby boomer had not turned 65. Yet, since the 2010 census, about 10,000 baby boomers a day have turned 65 years of age. By 2030 all boomers will be at least age 65.”

Pawley continues adding, “As a generation that has broken through previous barriers posed by sex, race, marital status and more, many in this group of trend setters embraced lifestyles outside the norm. As a result,” she says, “millions who chose not to marry and have families will be what is referred to as “solo seniors” or those who have no living family or friends that can serve as a legal agent for them should they become unable to make important health and legal decisions. Of course,” she acknowledges, “there will also be solo seniors who outlive their family and friends. Boomers are breaking the age barrier and outliving previous generations too!”

According to Pawley, “No matter how one arrives at being defined as a solo senior, it’s important to make decisions about health care, designating a medical power of attorney, creating a will and advanced health care directives while you are healthy and able.” She states, “Clarifying how you wish to be cared for if you become incapacitated or unable to communicate and having someone to carry out those wishes will provide a sense of comfort.”

Pawley adds a link to an article she considers a “must-read for every solo senior.” Pawley adds, that the author of the article, “outlines the steps she took and the fears she had as she went about finding a fiduciary.” https://www.nextavenue.org/solo-agers-find-a-fiduciary/

About Shannon M. Pawley, J.D., LL.M

As the owner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, Shannon M. Pawley and her entire team share a passion which focuses on being able to serve the legal needs of retiring individuals. In our firm, WE BELIEVE that people should not have to lose everything they’ve worked a lifetime to earn and that every person is an individual who deserves respect and the highest quality of life possible, regardless of age or ability. We also believe that privacy and protection are the keys to personal peace. Born and raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia to a tightknit family with strong military service roots, Shannon learned from an early age the value of hard work and the importance of social awareness to ensure you always leave a situation in a better place than how you entered it. In her junior year of high school, Shannon served as U.S. House of Representatives Page during the 101st United States Congressional Session in Washington, D.C. This experience exposed her to numerous new cultures and worldly issues. Walking away from her experience as a U.S. House of Representative Page, Shannon knew that she wanted to pursue legal studies and be able to assist others in obtaining the best results available in difficult situations.
Shannon earned her undergraduate degree at North Carolina Wesleyan College and pursued a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law. After obtaining her law degree and becoming a licensed attorney in Michigan, she continued her educational pursuit by acquiring a LL.M. (Master of Law) in Taxation from Wayne State University. After moving to Georgia in 2018, Shannon obtained her Georgia law license and has enjoyed being able to pursue her desire of ensuring persons are able to age with dignity, grace and independence.
