The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Managing Partner, Shannon Pawley, Writes About The All-Pervasive Mental Health Issues Coming To Light Due To The Pandemic.

Estate & Asset Protection Attorney and Managing Partner, Shannon Pawley, brings attention to the undue emotional and mental pressures brought on by the pandemic resulting in widespread mental health challenges especially among caregivers.

DECATUR, GA, May 20, 2021: Shannon Pawley, Managing Partner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new article on the law firm’s website entitled “Everyone Can Relate To Mental Health Awareness Month During The Pandemics.” Ms. Pawley focusses on an issue that she has seen become worse among her clients during the pandemic.

“If I were a betting person,” Pawley writes,” I would be willing to bet that most people don’t know that Mental Health Awareness Month has been ongoing in this country during the month of May since 1949. Only those people who have or have had a loved one with mental health challenges are probably aware there is a whole month devoted to this issue. But this year,” she emphasizes, “it’s a different story. Mental health issues are all-pervasive as the pandemic has put the entire world under enormous stress.”

As Pawley points out, “The added stress that caregivers have been under since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic are unimaginable. Additionally, the health care providers – our doctors, nurses, first responders – have been stretched so far beyond the capacity that most people cannot even begin to understand.” Pawley shares, “As I was researching for this article, I read that during normal, non-pandemic times, one doctor commits suicide in this country every day due to mental health issues. Doctors cannot even seek help with the stresses they endure without risking their practice. So they keep the pressure within until they literally fall apart.”

According to Pawley, “Mental Health Awareness Month is so important this year as it becomes apparent that no one is immune. The added pressures the pandemic has placed on people already under pressure caring for elderly loved ones who are in the throes of advanced and progressing ALZ/dementia and other conditions are having an effect on even those who would never think they could crack.”

About Shannon M. Pawley, J.D., LL.M

Shannon is the firm’s Managing Partner.  Born and raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia to a tightknit family with strong military service roots, Shannon learned from an early age the value of hard work and the importance of social awareness to ensure you always leave a situation in a better place than how you entered it.  In her junior year of high school, Shannon served as U.S. House of Representatives Page during the 101st United States Congressional Session in Washington, D.C.  This experience exposed her to numerous new cultures and worldly issues.  Walking away from her experience as a U.S. House of Representative Page, Shannon knew that she wanted to pursue legal studies and be able to assist others in obtaining the best results available in difficult situations.

Shannon earned her undergraduate degree at North Carolina Wesleyan College and pursued a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.  After obtaining her law degree and becoming a licensed attorney in Michigan, she continued her educational pursuit by acquiring a LL.M. (Master of Law) in Taxation from Wayne State University.
