The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Managing Partner, Shannon Pawley, Offers A List Of Attributes To Require When Looking To Hire A Non-Family Caregiver.

Estate & Asset Protection Attorney and Managing Partner, Shannon Pawley acknowledges the greater need for in-home care for loved ones since the onset of COVID-19 and she provides a bit of insight into how to go about finding non-family in-home care.

DECATUR, GA, April 24, 2021: Shannon Pawley, Managing Partner of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new article on the law firm’s website entitled “What To Look For When Selecting A Non-Family Caregiver,” in which Ms. Pawley provides a list or attributes to look for during the selection process.

Pawley writes, “Without question, the COVID-19 pandemic made families think twice about putting a loved one in a long-term care or nursing home facility. For nearly a year,” she adds, “it was impossible to gain access to these facilities as the pandemic ravaged those dear ones who were already residents. As a result, in the past year and a half, home care services have been on the rise as families look to have their loved ones’ needs tended to in the comfort of their own homes.” She acknowledges, “However, that too has been challenging in light of the precautions being taken as a result of the pandemic.”

As Pawley points out, “Finding qualified caregivers willing to accept a position during this time has been and continues to be difficult. However,” she emphasizes, “it is a crucial role that so many people are desperate to fill as more people are returning to work and may no longer be available to those who require their care. Remember that your desperation could very well cloud your judgment.” She elaborates, “It’s kind of like the advice to not go grocery shopping when you’re hungry. You’ll inevitably end up with things you really don’t need and shouldn’t have. Likewise, desperation can be destructive when searching for an in-home caregiver.”

“I’ve put together a list of some of the non-negotiable traits to look for when selecting an in-home caregiver,” Pawley writes. She goes on to add, “If you don’t sense these traits in those you are interviewing, move on until you find the right balance of traits. After all, the idea is to give both yourself and your loved one peace of mind. If you are comfortable from the outset your relationship with the caregiver will only become stronger as will the bond between caregiver and care recipient.”

Shannon is the firm’s Managing Partner.  Born and raised in the Tidewater area of Virginia to a tightknit family with strong military service roots, Shannon learned from an early age the value of hard work and the importance of social awareness to ensure you always leave a situation in a better place than how you entered it.  In her junior year of high school, Shannon served as U.S. House of Representatives Page during the 101st United States Congressional Session in Washington, D.C.  This experience exposed her to numerous new cultures and worldly issues.  Walking away from her experience as a U.S. House of Representative Page, Shannon knew that she wanted to pursue legal studies and be able to assist others in obtaining the best results available in difficult situations.

Shannon earned her undergraduate degree at North Carolina Wesleyan College and pursued a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.  After obtaining her law degree and becoming a licensed attorney in Michigan, she continued her educational pursuit by acquiring a LL.M.
