Elder Care Attorney & Founder of The Elder & Disability Law Firm, Victoria L. Collier On Alzheimer’s Awareness

Certified Elder Care Attorney, Victoria Collier, helps bring greater awareness to Alzheimer’s in honor of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month and shares information that can help prevent and manage the disease.

Decatur, GA, November 9, 2017: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Elder & Disability Law Firm, has posted a new article on her law firm’s website entitled “November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.” Ms. Collier shares little-known facts about the disease which may serve to prevent or help someone take action to manage a loved one’s disease.

Collier writes, “Back in 1983, President Ronal Reagan designated November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Back then, fewer than 2 million Americans had the disease.” She continues adding, “Today there are more than 5 million people with the disease. Some sources indicate that number is likely to triple by 2050. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the USA and is climbing steadily in the rankings. Also, Alzheimer’s is the leading cause of dementia and accounts for about 65% of all dementia worldwide. “

“If a loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,” says Collier, “I pray that you have taken action to have their legal and healthcare needs handled before they are unable to make decisions. That is one of the most rewarding things family members can do for loved ones the moment there are symptoms.”

Collier also writes, “In addition, I am providing an excerpt from a recent article posted at caring.com to help raise awareness of this heartbreaking disease.”

The first item from the article Collier provides states that Alzheimer’s is generally detected at the “end-stage of the disease.”
